Registration
Registration is open for the GLGC / TSC Ground School 2026.
The course fee is $450.00 taxes excluded. A discount of $100.00 will be applied when you joining the club in 2026.
This year we are offering an in-person ground school in the Toronto / Etobicoke area presented by Mike Morgulis, Instructor (TSC) and Transport Canada Approved Person.
The in-person course will run every second Saturday (allowing for weather and holiday adjustments). Two topics will be covered per Saturday session with a lunch break at around noon between sessions. Expected completion mid April.
Classes start: 07 February 2026 at 09h30 and finish daily by 15h00.

- Feb 07 – Introduction to Gliding, Principles of Flight and Airmanship
- Feb 21 – Instruments, Licence, Badges and Medical facts
- March 7 – Navigation and Meteorology
- March 21 – Circuit – Take-off, Tow and Landing, Thermals, Ridges and Wave
- April 04 – Field Selection, Judgement (Human factors, Decision making)
- April 18 – Cross country flying and Radio communication
Books and peripherals required
The Soaring Association of Canada (SAC) manual, SOAR & Learn to Fly Gliders (2023), may be downloaded or will be supplied by your club.
Maps are available online for purchase (required for navigation exercises) NAVCAN AIR5000 - Toronto VNC and NAVCAN AIR1900 - Toronto VTA
AIM published by Transport Canada, Transport Canada Aeronautical Information Manual (TC AIM)
"From the Ground Up" by Sandy A.F. MacDonald is also recommended reading. See if you can find a used copy online.
